Greetings parents and families of new Sooners!

We invite you to join us at one of our
Parent and Family Orientations this summer:

July 12-13
July 19-20

(Exclusively for parents and guardians,
incoming student orientation is Camp Crimson.)



Additional Information

Dress: Come as you are! However, our faculty and staff will be coming straight from work so they will be dressed business casual.

  • 2:00-3:30 p.m. | Optional campus tours available
  • 4:00-6:00 p.m. | Welcome Reception | Beaird Lounge, Oklahoma Memorial Union (2nd floor)
    • Meet OU staff and faculty members
    • Hors d'oeuvres and drinks sponsored by Sooner Parents

Dress: Casual (Our staff will be in our Parent & Family Programs shirt)

    • “Answering the Big Questions Part I: Home Away from Home”

  • 10:45-11:00 a.m. | Break

    • "Meet the Graduation Office"
  • 11:15-Noon | Meacham Auditorium
    • “Answering the Big Questions Part II: Well-Being"
  • Noon-1:15 p.m. | Lunch | Molly Shi Boren Ballroom
    • Keynote: “Thriving in the Classroom”
  • 1:30-2:15 p.m. and 2:30-3:15 p.m. | Information Session Rotations | Various Union Rooms
    Sessions will be provided at both time slots and participants will choose two of the following
    three sessions to attend:
    • “Getting Involved - Campus and Community Engagement”
    • “Coaching Your Student to Success - Tips for Parents”
    • “Covering the Cost - Financial Planning and Scholarships”
  • 3:30-4:30 p.m. | Closing Session | Meacham Auditorium


Session changes will be allowed up to 7 days prior to the event date.

$95 per person includes Thursday Reception, Friday Orientation Sessions, parking, meals, snacks, giveaways and orientation materials. Fees do not include lodging or transportation.
While we do not have specific programming for Sooner Siblings, all guests are welcome at the standard registration price.

Welcome to the University of Oklahoma. OU Parking Services hopes you enjoy your visit and experience, as certain spaces and areas in campus parking facilities are designated for use by visitors.

These areas have been located for maximum visitor convenience and are clearly identified by signage. Please click here for specific locations.

Visitor permits are valid for a single visit. Permits are available online, or from OU Parking Services, 1332 Jenkins Ave., inside the Jenkins Avenue Parking Facility.

Pay stations also make it easier than ever to park on campus. Pay stations are located in the Elm garage and in the lot on Boyd Street across from Fred Jones museum.

Parent and Family Orientation will be held in the Oklahoma Memorial Union located at 900 Asp Avenue, Norman, OK 73019.

The Oklahoma Memorial Union is located on the North end of The University of Oklahoma Campus, near the intersection of Boyd Street and Asp Avenue.

This year, we will share hotels that provide special rates for one or more night’s stay during Parent Orientation dates. They are all subject to availability and are limited in number. Many must be booked several weeks in advance to get the special rate.  Please contact hotels directly for questions and reservations.

Panhellenic Recruitment

Is your daughter planning to participate in the formal Panhellenic recruitment process?

Formal recruitment is the main process the National Panhellenic Conference sororities at the University of Oklahoma use to recruit new members. 

Our August Parent Orientation is arranged so that while your daughter is busy participating in Round I of the process, you can join us at a Parent and Family Orientation session created just for you.

Camp Crimson

Is your student attending Camp Crimson, The University of Oklahoma's Premier Orientation Experience for incoming students?

Our July Parent Orientation sessions align with Camp Crimson dates (Boomer and Sooner sessions) so that you will wrap up on Friday at the same time Camp is coming to a close.

While your students are having the time of their lives meeting fellow students and learning about campus, consider joining us at a session created just for you.
