Teach-In to affect parking on March 9
The Teach-In on the Western Frontier is scheduled for Monday, March 9. Elm Avenue will be closed from Boyd to Brooks Street from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., except for those entering and exiting the Elm Avenue Parking Facility. Those drivers should enter and exit Elm at Brooks Street. Asp Avenue from Felgar Street to Kuhlman Court will be closed from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The faculty/staff lot behind Boyd House will be reserved for attendees from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. The commuter north of that lot will be open to faculty and staff. A permit-free park-and-ride lot is available at the Lloyd Noble Center.
Get single-day permits for bad-weather days
Students, faculty and staff can purchase single-day parking permits for days when it's just too cold or inconvenient to walk or ride. Permits may be purchased in quantities of one to 10 for $3.50 each and are valid for the date scratched off. Faculty/staff permits can be used in faculty/staff lots. Student permits can be used in any student-permitted lot. Either permit is valid in multi-purpose lots.
Rate increases will help fund more parking
Parking permit rates will increase in steps over the next five years to help finance two multi-story parking structures on campus. Housing and commuter student rates went from $195 to $215 this academic year. For faculty and staff, rates increased from $222 to $244 for the calendar year, August 2014 to August 2015. LEFE spaces open on Research Campus
Parking & Transportation Services is committed to promoting university sustainability initiatives. Three Partners Place and Four Partners Place have received LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. As one of many strategies to this certification, parking spaces have been dedicated Low Emission, Fuel-Efficient (LEFE).
Only vehicles that had a green score of 45 and above listed on the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) may park in the university’s LEFE parking spaces. OU has no influence on which cars make the list. Valid parking permits are required to park in any LEFE vehicle parking spaces on campus.
