Donor Guidelines

Continued growth of the archive is primarily made possible by the donation of political commercials from candidates, their campaigns, special interest groups, consultants, ad agencies, and major political parties. The archive is committed to providing the best possible conditions for the preservation of materials, including climatically controlled storage and a high level of security.

The archive adheres to restrictions outlined by the donor as a condition of contribution; however, it is the express policy of the archive that materials will not be used in any way to bring disrespect, ridicule, or misrepresentation to the candidates or producers of the commercials. The archive provides viewing access only to the materials and conveys no other rights to the user. Users must provide assurance that the materials will not be used in any unauthorized way.

By donating their political advertisements to the Julian P. Kanter Political Commercial Archive, candidates, political action committees, special interest groups, and everyone involved in the production of broadcast political advertisements can be assured that their work will be preserved and shared with future generations.
