NOTE: This program is designed for all
international Teaching Assistants (ITA) new to teaching at OU in the Fall Semester
2007.
This program is designed for all international TA's who are new
to teaching at OU, including those who have worked as TA's at other
universities in the USA. It will provide you with knowledge
and skills that will help you meet the challenges and
cultural norms at the University of Oklahoma's educational system.
This training workshop is only offered in August each year.
Areas we will explore:
- Managing Cultural Differences. We will examine
cultural differences and assist you in dealing effectively
with such differences.
- Adapting to OU Classes. We will explore ways to successfully manage your role as teachers of American students.
The workshop activities will include lectures, group
discussions and videotaped practices.

Parking is FREE during Intersession ( July 31 - August 18, 2007) in all Commuter and Multipurpose lots. The closest parking lots to Sarkeys Energy Center are located on the corner of Jenkins Ave. & Brooks Street. On the Northeast corner, there is a small lot behind Rhyne Hall, and on the Southeast corner is a larger lot that is west of the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, the football stadium, and north of Jacobs Field, the track venue. ASP AVE. Parking Facility has commuter parking on the 2nd floor and above - be sure and watch the signs for instructions. Arrangements
for English proficiency testing should be made with English Assessment Programs as soon as possible.
If you have not already passed the required tests, arrangements
can be made that will not interfere with the training.
The tests are given at the English Assessment Program Office,
201 Robertson Hall. For more information about OU's language
