Letter from the Directors
Madison Horinek, Director of Conferences
As the Director of the JCPenney Leadership Center's Parker Leadership Conference, I would like to encourage you to attend this year's conference, “Building A Business In The 21st Century!” My vision for this year’s conference theme was inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit I see in many of my peers here at the University of Oklahoma.
With an emphasis on the struggles and choices entrepreneurs face, my goal is to highlight the importance of these choices and how they will affect you and your business in the long run. This conference was established to empower you with the tools necessary to help you advance quickly and smoothly into your future career endeavors. There will be a wide range of practical topics discussed and real-life examples shared through discussion of a case study introduced by our keynote speaker, Ethan Berman, Former Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board at RiskMetrics Group, and moderated in small groups by professionals from a variety of industries.I hope you come away from this conference with a practical understanding of what it takes to build a business in the 21st century.
Breea Clark, Director of JCPenney Leadership Program
On behalf of the JCPenney Leadership Center, I would like to welcome you to the 2019 Parker Leadership Conference! We sincerely hope that this event is a meaningful networking, professional development, and learning experience for you. This event is a student based-leadership conference, and this year’s topic is “Building a Business in the 21st Century.” At this conference you will have the opportunity to act as a consultant for a business-focused leadership case. Analytical skills, critical thinking, consulting ability, and general business knowledge are utilized in this active learning conference model. For these reasons, the JCPenney Leadership Center is proud to present this conference as an opportunity to be a part of a conversation designed to inspire students to think like executive business leaders. Thank you for your attendance today, and I encourage each of you to utilize this event as a chance to learn and challenge yourself personally, professionally, and academically.
