Established in 1958 as the first Petroleum Land Management program in the world, the program changed its name and expanded its focus to Energy Management in 1999.

 

The Curriculum draws from four of OU's core energy colleges

 

Michael F. Price College of Business

Core courses in accounting, management, marketing, economics and MIS are now combined with upper division level finance courses in areas such as derivatives and securities, energy risk management, investments and financial markets. Energy management courses include practical issues, production and markets, and commodity markets and trades.

 

Mewbourne College of Earth & Energy

Energy Management students take fundamental technical classes in petroleum engineering, geology, and geophysics.

 

College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences

The students receive a basic understanding of the influence of weather on the global natural gas market as well as the implications of the industry on the environment. Classes are also offered in Arc GIS - Computer Mapping and Alternative Energies.

 

College of Law

World renowned in the field of oil & gas law the College of Law collaborates with the Price College of Business in the legal areas of commercial transactions, real property, oil and gas, and environmental law.
