Robert A. Sheppard
Mr. Sheppard is the Chairman of IPM Advisors, an international consulting firm that provides senior-level advice to the oil & gas and related industries. He is also a senior advisor to BP on Russia and CIS and a past member of the board of directors of TNK-BP, the 10th largest integrated petroleum company in the world. He was a member of the Compensation and Health, Safety, and Environment committees of the TNK-BP board and led a governance review on TNK-BP for the board.
He also serves as an non-executive director of the Eastern European Trust plc. He serves as a member of the Company’s audit committee, management engagement committee and nominations committee. The Eastern European Trust is listed on the London Stock Exchange and focuses on investing on listed companies in Eastern Europe and Russia.
Mr. Sheppard is also a member of the Supervisory Board for DTEK, a private energy company operating in the Ukraine. DTEK provides approximately 30 % of the total electricity produced in the Ukraine. It is an integrated firm which mines the coal used for fuel, operates the generation stations and distribution network. Mr. Sheppard is Chairman of the Health Safety and Environment Committee of the Supervisory Board of the firm.
He is about to join the Board of Directors of H2scan, a small start-up firm that has a proprietary technology for the measurement of hydrogen at very low concentrations in the power, process, and refining industries.
Prior to launching IPM Advisors, Mr. Sheppard had a distinguished 32-year career in the petroleum industry. From 2002-2004, he was a senior vice president at BP, advising management on strategic decisions in Russia and CIS. From 1998 to 2002, Mr. Sheppard was first Chief Operating Officer and then President of Sidanco, the fourth largest integrated oil company in Russia. In 2002, Sidanco was merged with BP’s other Russian investments into a new oil company, TNK-BP. For more than 25 years, Mr. Sheppard has held various positions around the world at Amoco, which was merged with BP in 1999. He was president and general manager of Amoco Egypt for three years, president and general manager of Amoco Argentina and Managing Director of the Gulf of Suez Petroleum Company, a joint operating company of the Egyptian government and Amoco. For five years, he was based in Amoco’s London office, as Vice President of Amoco UK Exploration Company.
He is also the past Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Mirabel Club in Scottsdale, Arizona
Mr. Sheppard earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Wyoming and an EMBA from Columbia University School of Business.
