PRICE COLLEGE OF BUSINESS MBA STUDENTS PLACE FIRST IN NATIONAL CASE COMPETITION

NORMAN – MBA students from the Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma placed first in the Wells Fargo Case Competition, a national case competition hosted Feb. 8 by the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. Hailey Sedwick, Garrett Stevenson, Brett Sinclair and Josh Woodbridge competed against seven other teams of MBA students, and won $4,000 for their first-place finish.

“Participating in the Wells Fargo Case Competition was one of the most rewarding experiences my team and I have had during our time in the MBA program thus far,” says winning team member Hailey Sedwick. “We spent more than 50 hours preparing a financial model and accompanying underwriting memorandum that were submitted two days before the day of the competition, and then subsequently created a Power Point presentation that summarized our findings for the judges panel. Winning after putting so much of our time and energy into the project was incredibly exciting and one of the proudest moments I personally have had in my life.”

The team members were assigned a real-world financing situation that was once presented to Wells Fargo bankers. The students then addressed this issue with the judges, composed of a team of Wells Fargo experts. The MBA teams were judged on written analysis, oral presentation, quality of recommendations, and a question-and-answer session.

Ranked in the top 5 percent of all U.S. undergraduate business schools based on recent ranking data, the Price College of Business is one of the nation’s premier business colleges. This year, U.S. News & World Report ranks the college’s International Business program 20th in the nation while Entrepreneurmagazine in association with The Princeton Review ranked the Entrepreneurship undergraduate program 10th and graduate program 25th in the nation.
