OU Undergraduate Student Business Teams Win Top Two Spots At Governor’s Cup Competition

NORMAN – Undergraduate students from the Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma won the top two awards in the High Growth Division of the Donald W. Reynolds Collegiate Business Plan Competition this week in Oklahoma City, Okla.

The first-place team members – Lauren Abston, Ali Davis, Quincy Tresemer, Cici Zhou and Caitlin Zuerker – won $20,000 for their concept, Raw, which builds a toxin-free cosmetic certification.

The second-place team members – Maggie Barton, Jeff Bissinger, Cooper Cadle, Shannon Sherman and Shelby Vanhooser – won $10,000 for their concept, SPUR, which provides a crowdfunding platform with a mission of aligning the needs of potential college students for capital, education and opportunity in launching new ventures.

“The recent honors achieved at the Governor’s Cup showcase the talent and vision our students possess to become the future business leaders we need to ensure the enduring global competitiveness of Oklahoma and the nation,” said Daniel Pullin, dean and Fred E. Brown Chair of Price College. “Our students help Price College serve as an economic engine for the state as they work arm-in-arm with our faculty, alumni and corporate supporters to generate business insights into the biggest business issues of our time.”

Both student teams will go on to compete in the Tri-State Governor’s Cup Competition in Las Vegas May 27 and 28 against teams that placed in the top two in their respective Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup competition in Arkansas and Nevada.

Price College’s Center for Entrepreneurship undergraduate program is ranked in the top five by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine. The college’s MBA Program is one of Bloomberg Businessweek’s Best Business Schools, while the International Business Program is ranked in the U.S. News & World Report’s top 25, and its Supply Chain Management program is among the top 20 in the nation as determined by Gartner. The John T. Steed School of Accounting is ranked in the top 10 for both the undergraduate and graduate programs by Public Accounting Report for accounting schools with 15 or fewer faculty.
