1930s

Clark Bass (deceased) (BS, Business, 1934) and wife Wanda Bass were inducted posthumously into the Oklahoma Bankers Hall of Fame.

1940s

The Daily Oklahoman wrote a feature article about Alfred Karchmer (BBA, Finance, 1947), a 99-year-old businessman in Oklahoma City.

1960s

The Washington State Hospital Association presented District Commissioner Scott Hilburn (BBA, Management, 1964) with its inaugural Ben Lindekugel Governance Excellence Award.

1970s

Joe Shockley (BBA, Accounting, 1973) has joined the Stride Bank as director.

1980s

Gary Pierson (BBA, Finance; JD, 1981; 1984) was nominated by the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents as the next chairman, effective March 2020. Numerous outlets reported on this news:

Mark Yancey (BBA, Finance, 1985) was interviewed by CEO Money.

 

Priscilla Bredy (BBA, Accounting, 1985) has been promoted to chief financial officer of Liberty National Bank.

 

 Holly Lowe (BBA, Accounting; 1986) has been named Director of Audits in the Operations Review and Evaluation Division at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.

 

A promotional tour for a new novel by King Everett Medlin (BBA, Management, 1986) was featured on the Book Junkiez website.

 

Nelson Rodenmayer (BBA, Management, 1986) has been appointed Senior Vice President of Sales for Mudlick Marketing.

1990s

MidCap Business Credit has appointed Bill Nay (BBA, Management, 1992) as Senior Vice President to its business development team.

 

Robert Grisaffe (BBA, Accounting, 1996) has been named market president of Embark, which has opened two new offices in Oklahoma.

 

Stephen Vargo (BA, Psychology; BS, Psychology; Ph.D., Business Administration; 1967; 1969; 1997), professor of marketing at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa Shidler College of Business, was named to Web of Science Groups’ Highly Cited Researchers of 2019 for the sixth consecutive year.

 

Idaho State University’s College of Business held an open forum for three business dean candidates, including Shane Hunt (BBA, Marketing; MBA; 1998; 1999)

 

Dakon Montgomery (BBA, Finance, 1999) has been named COO of Eyecare Services Partners.

2000s

David Joseph (BBA, International Business, 2000), the U.S. Attorney for the Western District, was recently nominated by President Trump to be an Alexandria-based judge for the same area’s U.S. District Court.

 

Cody Pistulka (BBA, Management; BS, Environmental Design; Master of Architecture, 2005; 2007; 2009) has been named an Associate by Rand Elliott Architects.

 

Danny O’Connell (BBA, Finance; MBA, 2000; 2006) has been elected President-Elect of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors - Texas (NAIFA-TX) for 2020 and will continue as President in 2021.

 

Hispanic Executive published an exclusive feature about Vanessa Diaz (MBA, 2003).

 

Brandi Nowakowski (BBA, Human Resources Management; JD, 2006; 2010) has been appointed as the Oklahoma Bar Association’s 2020 vice president.

2010s

Ashley Shapiro Bunyard (BBA, Marketing; JD; 2012; 2015) joined Dykema as an associate.

 

A new article in Thrive Global cites research by Price faculty member Mark Bolino and Anthony Klotz (Ph.D., Business Administration, 2013).

 

Kyle Gilmore (BBA, Energy Management, 2013) and Hannah Kamphuis (BBA, Accounting; Master of Accountancy, 2019; 2019) have been added as associates to BKD CPAs & Advisors.

 

Mickey Friedrich (MBA, Energy Executive, 2015) and John Argo (BS, Petroleum Engineering; MBA, Energy Executive; 2006; 2015) were named to Hart Energy’s Forty Under 40 in the Oil and Gas Industry list.

 

The Oklahoma Society of CPAs recently awarded a silver medal to James Kuegler (BBA, Accounting; Master of Accountancy;   2017; 2019) for achieving the top score on all four CPA exam sections within two consecutive windows. Drew Kimble (BBA, Accounting; Master of Accountancy; 2019; 2019) also was recognized with an honorable mention for his performance on the CPA exam.

 

Lester La Porte (MBA, 2019) has been hired as director of BKD CPAs & Advisors’ audit and assurance team.

In Memoriam

Rick Moore (BBA, Accounting; JD, 1982; 1985), has passed away. Moore spent 17 years in a large law firm in Oklahoma City before working with noted philanthropist Linda Pace in San Antonio. The Ruby City Contemporary Art Center, which he established on her behalf, came to fruition in October of this year. In 2010, Moore began working as CEO and General Counsel for a prominent San Antonio family and established their private trust company and family office.
