Instructor Files Charge with Campus Judicial Coordinator (2.4)

All complaints shall be made in writing, ordinarily within fifteen regular class days of discovery, to the Campus Judicial Coordinator. Complaints shall include the name of the student, the class in which the misconduct occurred if applicable, the date on which the incident was discovered, a brief description of the incident, and the grade penalty to be imposed if applicable. Academic Misconduct Code § 2.4

Description of the incident. It is not necessary to categorize the incident as "plagiarism," "fraud," etc. As used in the Academic Misconduct Code, these terms merely illustrate forms of misconduct and do not constitute separate charges. The incident should simply be described with enough detail to inform the student and university officials what the student did.

If additional facts are discovered later, for instance if identical papers are later discovered to have been plagiarized from the Internet, an additional memo should ordinarily be sent to the CJC.

Regular class day. Any day, Monday through Friday, on which the University holds regularly
scheduled classes, or regularly scheduled final examinations, except for Intersession classes.
