WHAT IS AN OMBUDSPERSON?
An onbudsperson is a "designated neutral" dispute resolver. The ombudsperson is not an advocate
for anyone, nor does he/she determine right or wrong. The job of the ombudsperson is to aid in the
resolution of problems in a non-adversarial, non-litigious manner. The ombudsperson has broad
powers to investigate and to make ecommendations but no authority to make or reverse a decision.
The ombudperson's powers are those of reason and persuasion.
