
ARDMORE – Many universities subsidize their athletics programs, but at the University of Oklahoma this year just the opposite is happening. In presenting his proposed budget for next year to the OU Board of Regents in Ardmore today, President David Boren announced that the OU Athletics Department will increase its annual support for academic programs by $3 million.

ARDMORE – The University of Oklahoma’s planned Specialty Clinic at North Tulsa will be named in memory of Sooner basketball legend Wayman Tisdale, who lost his two-year battle with cancer in May at the age of 44. A group of University of Oklahoma researchers led by Dr. James P. Shaffer, Homer L. Dodge Department of Physics and Astronomy, have discovered giant Rydberg molecules with a bond as large as a red blood cell. Determining how Rydberg molecules interact is important because Rydberg atoms are a key ingredient in atom based quantum computation schemes. Read More about the discovery
NORMAN — David Ray, an award-winning teacher at the University of Oklahoma, is expected to be named interim dean of the Joe C. and Carole Kerr McClendon Honors College, effective July 1, pending approval of the OU Board of Regents at its June meeting. He succeeds Robert Con Davis-Undiano, who resigned his post as dean to focus full time on new initiatives with China at OU’s award-winning literary journal, World Literature Today, for which he serves as executive director. NORMAN – University of Oklahoma President David Boren sent an e-mail today to OU students and a letter to their parents announcing that there will be no increases in tuition and mandatory across-the-board fees for continuing OU students next year.
