Regent Wade was appointed to the Board of Regents in 2004 for a seven-year term by Governor Brad Henry. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from The University of Oklahoma. Mr. Wade is publisher of the Elk City Daily News, former President of the Oklahoma Press Association, former President of the Oklahoma Newspaper Foundation, founder and President of the Elk City Education Foundation. He has served as Mayor of Elk City, President of the Chamber of Commerce, United Fund, Kiwanis Club and Arts Council. Regent Wade is an endowed OU Associate, Lifetime Member of the OU Alumni Association and OU Journalism Alumni Association and has endowed several scholarships at OU. He served on the Reach for Excellence campaign board and on search committees for two OU Deans and the director of the Pride of Oklahoma. He is a member of the Touchdown Club, the Tip-In Club, and the Pride of Oklahoma Alumni Club. Mr. Wade has long been active in the United Methodist Church, serving as chairman of numerous local committees and councils and on district as well as conference committees. He has been inducted in to the western Oklahoma Hall of Fame. He and his wife, Mary Jane, reside in Elk City and both are OU graduates. They have one daughter, Liz.
