Hints on using Netscape color commands:

The settings for BGCOLOR, TEXT, LINK, ALINK, and VLINK commands are set in the <BODY> statement. The colors can be given as the official Netscape color name or as the hexadecimal (base-16) equivalent in the Red, Green and Blue electron guns in your computer monitor.

<BODY> Command:

If you just use <BODY> at the top of an HTML file, these are the defaults:

<BODY BGCOLOR=gray TEXT=black LINK=blue ALINK=red VLINK=purple>

This is also the same as the following with quote marks (Warning: quote marks have to be balanced if you use them or the results are unpredictable!):

<BODY BGCOLOR="gray" TEXT="black" LINK="blue" ALINK="red" VLINK="purple">

Or in hexadecimal:

<BODY BGCOLOR="#808080" TEXT="#000000" LINK="#0000FF" ALINK="#FF0000" VLINK="#FF00FF">

<FONT COLOR> Command:

To use the FONT command with colors to change selected text (as I have done in blue and red above), the following syntax is used:

<FONT COLOR="blue"> is the same as <FONT COLOR="#0000FF">

Remember to end the FONT command with </FONT> command when you want to return to your usual color selection.
