McKinley has awarded it's prestigious Magellan four-star logo to Microscopes and Microscopy, setting it apart as one of the prime microscopy Web sites around the world. This is the highest award offered by McKinley. (31st Jan 1996)
There's now a new mirror site for Microscopes and Microscopy. If you're accessing the pages from anywhere in North or South America you are likely to see the best response from http://www.ou.edu/research/electron/mirror/. Thanks go to Scott Russell and his team at the Samuel Roberts Noble Electron Microscopy Lab at the University of Oklahoma for providing the space and considerable effort required for this mirror. (9th Jan 1996)
There's been a three week break in service during which the pages have not been updated as I had intended. This was due to family commitments which have now been resolved. I have started work on the pages again and expect to be able to bring everything up-to-date quite quickly. (8th Jan 1996)
Full-time courses of study at colleges and universities now have their own, dedicated section in Microscopes and Microscopy. I'm depending on my readers to tell me about such courses in order to make the section a useful source of information for prospective students. If you run such a course, please let me have the details.
If you can also supply the URL of a Web or Gopher site with further information about your course, so much the better. I'll add a link from the new section direct to your URL.
I'm running this section as a trial, if it's successful I'll keep it, if it attracts only a handful of items I may consider dropping it again and moving the course information to one of the existing sections. (22nd Nov 1995)
If you have a Web server and access to Microscopes and Microscopy is slow in your region, you might like to consider setting up a mirror. Send me an e-mail if you can help in this way.
A mirror will aid other users in your region as well as giving you the fastest possible access at your own site. Mirrors also reduce traffic on the major network backbones
If you have a Web page with a different link to Microscopes and Microscopy, please adjust it. If your page is viewed by users worldwide, do them a favour by offering both URLs.
