Biography
Brandon Files was born in San Diego, California in 1974. In 1994 he signed an Active Duty enlistment as a Signal Interceptor/Translator and attended the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey, California with a permanent duty assignment at Fort Polk, Louisiana with the 502d MI Co 2nd ACR. In 2000 he transitioned into the reserves serving as Platoon Sergeant for an Electronic Warfare platoon in Bell, California and was subsequently called back to active duty in 2002 with the 15th MI BN in order to monitor activity along the Iran/Iraq border prior to and during OIF. Again leaving active duty in 2003 Brandon concentrated on completing his higher education studies, graduating from the University of Oklahoma and Army ROTC, earning an Aviation commission in the Oklahoma National Guard. After attending Officer Basic Course at Ft. Rucker, Alabama LT Files returned to Oklahoma where he refined his skills as a CH-47D pilot prior to his deployment as platoon leader and pilot with B Co 2/149 GSAB in support of OIF 08-10 in Balad Iraq. Upon his return from Iraq 1LT Files was hired as the Army ROTC Special Events Officer for his Alma Mater, and is currently the Detachment Commander for Det 1 B Co 2/149 GSAB.
Lieutenant Files’ military education includes the Persian-Farsi Basic Course, Persian-Farsi Intermediate Course, Combat Electronic Warfare Operators Course, Voice Interceptor Course, Aviation Officer Basic Course, Dunker/HEEDS training, SERE-C, Initial Entry Rotor Wing Course, Primary Leadership Development Course and Combat Lifesavers Course. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Oklahoma, and an Associate of Arts in Foreign Language from Monterey Peninsula College. His awards and decorations include: the Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (2 Awards), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Iraq Campaign Medal with 2 campaign stars, the Army Achievement Medal (2 Awards), the National Defense Service Medal (1 BS), the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Humanitarian Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon and the Army Aviator Badge.
Lieutenant Files is married to the former Kelly Ann Tribble of Blue Springs, MO an assistant volleyball coach at the University of Oklahoma and has one son, Brandon James Bradrick-Files. They make their home in Norman, OK.
