Biography

CPT Thomas Hacker was born in Minot, North Dakota on September 27, 1981. He graduated from Norman High School and enlisted in the Oklahoma National Guard in 2000. He attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia and served as a Rifleman for Company A, 1-180th Infantry Regiment in Edmond, Oklahoma. While serving in the National Guard he attended the University of Oklahoma under the Simultaneous Membership Program. After graduation he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant and attended Armor Officer Basic Course (OBC) and Scout Leaders Course (SLC) at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Upon completion of OBC and SLC he was assigned as a Platoon Leader to Company C, 1-13th Armor Regiment at Fort Riley, Kansas and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III. Upon his return he was assigned to the G-3, 1st Infantry Division as Fort Riley Training Mission Plans and Sourcing Officer. His last assignment was as Executive Officer for HQ, 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas.

CPT Hacker’s military education includes One Station Unit Training, Armor Officer Basic Course, and Scout Leaders Course. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology and Sociology from the University of Oklahoma. His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (2 Awards); the National Defense Service Medal; the Iraqi Campaign Medal; the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; the Army Service Medal; and the Combat Action Badge.
