Biography
Lieutenant Colonel Kennan D. Horn was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on July 10, 1968. He graduated from high school in Gore, Oklahoma in 1986 and subsequently enlisted in the Army Reserves where he served in the 1/377th, 95th Infantry Division USAR in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. In 1989 he graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Air Defense Artillery. After attending the Officer Basic Course at Ft. Bliss, TX he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division (AALST) where he served as a Vulcan and Stinger Platoon Leader, Battery XO, Brigade LNO and Assistant S-3. Other assignments include: Recruiting Operations Officer for the University of Central Oklahoma from 1994-1996, Adjutant and Battery Commander in 1-62 ADA, 25th Infantry Division (Light) 1996-1999, Senior ADA Observer Controller for the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC), Ft. Polk, LA from 1999-2001, Student at Command and General Staff College, Ft. Leavenworth, KS 2001-2002, Battalion S-3 and Executive Officer for 3-62 ADA, 10th Mountain Division, Ft. Drum, NY from 2002-2004. His most recent assignment was as the Chief, Army Directorate, Office of Defense Cooperation - Turkey.
Lieutenant Colonel Horn's military education includes the Air Defense Officer Basic Course, the Infantry Officer Advance Course, Combined Arms Staff and Services School, Command and General Staff College, Defense Institute of Security Assistance Management, and the Joint Forces Staff College. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Northeastern State University and a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice Management from the University of Central Oklahoma. His awards and decorations include: the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), the Army Commendation Medal (3 Awards), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal (2 BS), the Southwest Asian Service Medal (2 BS), the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Overseas Service Medal (Numeral 2), the Kuwait Liberation Medal, the Army Parachutist Badge and the Air Assault Badge.
Lieutenant Colonel Horn is married to the former Caroline Ketcher of Stilwell, OK and has two children; their daughter Deana Martinez, and their son Dakota. They make their home in Norman, OK.
