Oklahoma University ROTC Cadets and Cadre, circa 1943

Since its 1917 inception, the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Oklahoma has produced for our Army junior officers of the highest caliber, young men and women fit to lead America's sons and daughters into battle when so called. Participating in every great American war of the twentieth century, the graduates of our program have been continually tried by fire in the crucible of armed conflict. Each time, they emerged triumphant, giving rise to heroes, generals, and those who spilled their blood on foreign soil in the interest of our national well being.

Through their participation in such notable events, officers who spent their formative years as students in the middle of the American Heartland became a part of the rich tapestry that is our nation's history. Based on the extensive research of personal accounts, letters, photographs, and records culled from the recesses of the Armory at the University of Oklahoma, the story of these local heroes who fought in faraway places, sometimes never again returning home, can now be told.

You are invited to explore this website and learn about the rich military tradition hidden away in the little brick building on the east side of the University campus, which stands as a stoic testament to those who passed from its modest drill floor onto the grand stage of world history.
