November 2007 Alumni Dinner

The Alumni Dinner is an annual event in which the OU Army ROTC Alumni Association and its contributors meet with the current staff members and cadets of the Sooner Battalion to present awards, recognize outstanding alumni, and mingle with young future Army officers. This year, the Alumni Association presented numerous scholarships and awards to several cadets, while the Sooner Battalion presented awards and places on the newly-created "Wall of Fame" to outstanding alumni. The keynote event of the night was the presentation of a portrait commissioned by the Sooner Battalion in honor of First Lieutenant Bob Kalsu, an alumnus of OU Army ROTC and the only professional athlete killed in the Vietnam War. His surviving family was on-hand to unveil the portrait, which now occupies a place of honor in the halls of the Armory.
