Held during the month of October at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, the fall 2006 field training exercise (FTX) was a three-day event focusing on basic land navigation skills, map-reading, and fieldcraft. In addition, cadets were shown how to properly establish and run an infantry patrol base throughout the night, which taught discipline and accountability to each member of the unit, especially cadet leaders, who were responsible for ensuring the safety of their personnel and the proper management of their command at all times. Like most other field training, senior class cadets were largely responsible for its implementation and execution as preparation for the planning and organization skills required of Army officers.
