Additional Assistance

The University of Oklahoma has additional scholarship opportunities for certain student populations. Review the requirements and applications below to see if you are eligible.

Sooners Helping Sooners is a student initiative to raise money for an Emergency Allocation Account within the University. This fund has been created to help students who find themselves in extenuating circumstances and in need of emergency financial assistance. Examples of such circumstances can include, but are not limited to, apartment fires, the death of a family member and emergency medical care, among others. University of Oklahoma students will have the opportunity to apply or be nominated for awards from SHS. The hope of SHS is to drive this campaign of compassion so that every Sooner has an opportunity to succeed at OU, despite extenuating circumstances. This program allows all OU students to come together to help those Sooners in need.

Visit the Sooners Helping Sooners website to learn how to donate, nominate or apply for a scholarship.

Murrah Federal Building Bombing
On April 19, 1995, the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City focused the attention of the world on Oklahoma.  The unprecedented tragedy claimed the lives of 168 people, including 19 children. The then Mobil Foundation established the ExxonMobil Foundation Scholarship, which is now available, in priority order, to students who were tragically affected by the Murrah Building Bombing and to students who were a part of the search and rescue efforts.

Admitted students affected by the 1995 bombing may apply for these scholarships by completing the OU Financial Aid Application, which will become available in oZONE in December. Deadlines apply.

May 3, 1999 Tornadoes
