The Department of Modern Languages at Southwestern University
invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Spanish, tenure track,
with a specialization in non-twentieth century Latin American literature.
Preference will be given to those candidates with an interest in trans-Atlantic
studies. PhD must be earned by time of appointment (August 2006). Candidates
must demonstrate effectiveness teaching undergraduates; a willingness
to teach at all levels; evidence of scholarly promise; and native/near-native
fluency in Spanish and English (ACTFL Superior ratings in both languages).
Responsibilities include: 3/3 teaching load, mentoring/advising undergraduate
students, and participating in departmental and university-wide initiatives.
Interest in study-abroad and developing new curricula is a plus.
