Energy Institute of the Americas

Mission Projects Activities News
The Energy Institute of the Americas (EIA) was established jointly at Simon Bolivar University, Caracas, Venezuela and in the Sarkeys Energy Center at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma. On April 1996, the Pontifica Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil joined the EIA.

The purpose of the Institute is to create a permanent and institutionalized mechanism for addressing and seeking to secure the energy future of the Western Hemisphere and for promoting positive linkages between energy, economic, and environmental policies for the region.

The Institute links North, Central, and South America and plays a key role in the formulation of hemispheric energy policies and provide a support infrastructure necessary for their effective implementation.
