  • Academic Interests: Health and medicine, health disparities, stratification, research methods

    Courses Taught: undergraduate courses in research methods, statistics, and stratification, and graduate seminars in social statistics, stratification, and the sociology of health and medicine.

  • Dr. Peck's primary research focus is on health policy and health services research, with specific interest in the doctor-patient relationship.  Recent research has focused on how changes in the health care delivery system affect the way doctors and patients interact with one another and, subsequently, how the doctor-patient relationship affects various health-related outcomes.  Dr. Peck has published in social science journals such as Social Science Quarterly, Social Psychology Quarterly and Risk Analysis, as well as health and medical journals such as Medical Care, the Journal of General Internal Medicine, and Managed Care Interface.  His research has been supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health, private foundations, and state-level agencies.
