Undergraduate Advising
The department will be using sign-up sheets to schedule advising appointments. You will need to come to the sociology department (Kaufman Hall #329) and sign up. Sign-up sheets for Juniors and Seniors will be posted on Thursday, September 13th at 1:00 P.M. Sign-up sheets for Sophomores will be posted on October 4th.
Enrollment for seniors begins October 29th. Juniors begin enrolling November 5th. Sophomores can start enrolling November 12th. You will not be able to enroll until you have been advised.
Spring classes are available on the Schedule Planner. Degree Checksheets can be downloaded from the College of Arts and Sciences web page, picked up in their advising office (Ellison Hall #124) or at the sociology department. Your advising session will go much better if you take some time to plan your schedule before coming to your appointment. Look over the Degree Checksheet and the Class Schedule to plan your curriculum. You should have a trial schedule with you when you come for your appointment. We will help determine if the classes you select will allow you to make appropriate progress toward your sociology degree.
If you are an evening-only student and are unable to make it in for a morning or an afternoon appointment, please email me and we can make alternative arrangements.
If you have 90 or more earned hours and have not had a degree check from the College of Arts and Sciences, you should make an appointment with them as soon as possible at iAdvise.
Unfortunately, "no shows" have become a problem. Because there are so many sociology/criminology majors, it is important that you show up for your appointment prepared and on time. If you schedule an appointment and find out later that you cannot make it, please call the sociology department (325-1751) and let us know so that someone else can use this time.
Sincerely,
William Clay
