In particular, opportunities are available for DHS employees in the child welfare field. Federal agencies that administer scholarships for social work students include the Veterans’ Administration and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Some Native American students obtain financial support from their tribes.
The School of Social Work administers a limited number of stipends through grant funds and University scholarships. Partial tuition waivers from the Graduate College assist selected outstanding students. Materials describing these are distributed to admitted applicants along with other admission materials. Some practicum agencies award stipends to students placed in their agencies. The school has a limited number of graduate assistant positions. Some practicum agencies offer stipends.
