Set up student conference with Practicum Coordinator
Explore and interview at potential practicum sites
Apply for professional malpractice insurance
Complete HIPAA Training online
Complete site-specific requirements; be aware that medical sites will have additional requirements

Student files will be audited. All forms must be submitted before practicum can begin.

August 11  

Final Date to submit placement finalization material:

August 22 Practicum Instructor Orientation 1:00-5:00 pm
August 25 First Day of Classes
September 1    Labor Day, University Holiday; students may NOT count this day for Practicum unless their sites require their attendance    
September 2 Practicum Begins (SWK 5413)
Begin scheduling Faculty Liaison site visits
September 2 Pre-Practicum Orientation, 9:00am - 12:00 pm
September 3 Pre-Practicum Orientation, 1:00 - 4:00 pm
(*All concurrent practicum students must attend one orientation)
September 29 Teaching and Learning Agreement due
October 13 Mid-term Evaluations due
November 25 Last Day of Practicum for Fall Semester

Thanksgiving break; University closed; students may NOT count these days for Practicum unless their sites require their attendance

Students MUST submit all final documentation or risk the grade of Unsatisfactory for this course; student files will be audited.

January 19 Martin Luther King Jr. Day; University Holiday; students may NOT count this day for Practicum unless their sites require their attendance
January 20 Spring Semester Practicum resumes (SWK 5423)
February 3 Submit any major revisions of the Teaching & Learning Agreement
February 16  Presidents’ Day; NOT a University Holiday; students may count practicum hours even if site is closed, provided this is a regularly scheduled practicum day.
February 24  Mid-Term Evaluations due
March 14-22  Spring Vacation
May 8 Last Day of Practicum
