OU HIPAA Training

HIPAA Training
Students placed in medical settings for practicum are required to complete HIPAA training and provide a certificate of completion to the Practicum Office prior to beginning the placement. HIPAA training is offered by OU online at no charge. Follow the instructions below and submit a training certificate to the Practicum Office along with other practicum placement materials.

Go to the ou Website at www.ou.edu
Click on OUHSC
Click on HIPAA INFO Website in the middle of the page.
Click on Enter Training

• If you already have an HSC user name and password, use OPTION 1, login and begin training
• If you do not have an HSC ID, then call the HSC IT Help Desk at 405-271-2203 or 888-435-7486. Tell the person at the help desk that you will be using OPTION 2 and request a volunteer trainee ID. You will be asked for a sponsor and/or organization number. The organization number for the OUSSW is ACASSCWK.
• You may have to leave a message and provide a callback number in order to obtain your volunteer trainee ID required for training.
• You will need to complete both OUHSC HIPAA Privacy Training and OUHSC HIPAA Security Training and print certificates of completion for both.

If you have any difficulty with this process, please ask for Carolyn Laurie at the Help Desk, 405-271-2203 x47052. Do not give up and do not let anyone attending the Help Desk turn you away. We have been assured that our students can access this training.
