Undergraduate Field Requirements
Undergraduate social work majors must accumulate a total of 600 clock hours in field placements and earn a total of 10 credit hours. They do so through two courses: SWK 4315 and SWK 4325. To fulfill their field requirements, undergraduates are placed in practicum settings during both fall and spring semesters of their final year, spend 20-24 hours each week of the semester in the field, and accumulate a total of 300 hours in their practicum placements each semester.
All undergraduate students plan for their practicum placement by attending orientation to the practicum, completing application materials, meeting with the Practicum Coordinator, and interviewing at sites the semester prior to their enrollment in SWK 4315. Sites for individual students are assigned by the Practicum Coordinator based on student interest and experience, educational needs, and site availability.
