Undergraduate Field Requirements
Undergraduate social work majors must accumulate a total
of 600 clock hours in field placements. They do so through
two courses: SWK 4315 and SWK
4325. To fulfill their field requirements, undergraduates
are placed in practicum settings during both fall and spring
semesters of their final year, spend 20-24 hours each week
of the semester in the field, and accumulate a total of 300
hours in their practicum placements each semester.
All undergraduate students plan for their practicum placement
during the spring semester of their junior year. They attend
an orientation to the practicum, complete application materials,
meet with Practicum faculty, and interview at sites. Placements
for individual students are assigned by the Practicum Coordinator
based on student interest, experience, and educational needs
and site availability.
