This photograph collection includes black and white, color, contact sheet, and negative images of Dave McCurdy and activities related to his service as congressman from Oklahoma's Fourth District. Many of the images are official government photos or were taken by professional photographers. However, much of this collection consists of color snapshots that were probably taken by McCurdy or a member of his staff.
Many of the images were captured during oversight trips by the Armed Services and Intelligence Committees to such locations as Central America, the Middle East, the Soviet Union, and Japan. Other series of photographs depict the U.S.S. Tennessee submarine, Democratic Leadership Council events, several Congressional Baseball Games, the 1988 Iowa Caucus, constituents visiting McCurdy's Washington DC office, campaigning, district events, and Oklahoma military bases, including a series of photos documenting tornado damage at Altus Air Force Base in 1982.
McCurdy is pictured with notable figures such as Bill Clinton, Dick Gephardt, George H. W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, Al Gore, Helmut Kohl, Queen Elizabeth II, Tip O'Neill, Jim Wright, Les Aspin, Mobuto Sese Seko, Bart Connor, General Gordon Sullivan, colleagues in Oklahoma's congressional delegation, and numerous other members of Congress. There are also portraits and snapshots of notable Oklahomans including David Walters, Anita Hill, Laura Boyd, Tom Lucas, Jack Mildren, Cal Hobson, and J. C. Watts.
This collection includes several official portraits of McCurdy taken throughout his seven terms and many portraits and snapshots of his family.
