Commissioning ceremonies for the rig were held on the S.S. President, an excursion boat which was tied up to the new rig in the Mississippi River a few miles from the Gulf of Mexico. Among those shown in the photos are Robert S. Kerr and Dean McGee. There are also several images of Mrs. James Westwood Greely (wife of the manager of Kerr-McGee's offshore operations), who christened the rig. December 8, 1962. More than 1700 employees of Kerr McGee Oil industries and their families attended. Those in attendance enjoyed pony and stagecoach rides, "gun slingers," a fashion show, a German band, and a huge picnic buffet. The images show scenes from the event. Among those pictured are Robert S. Kerr, Dean McGee, Robert S. Kerr, Jr., and Breene M. Kerr.
