The folder concerns Oklahoman Randell Herrod, one of five Marines charged with murder for killing sixteen Vietnamese women and children on Feb. 19, 1970. Contents include correspondence regarding pretrial confinement, transport of Herrod's lawyer (Gene Stipe) and grandfather to Vietnam for the trial, and letters in support of Herrod, as well as numerous clippings covering the trials of Herrod and the other Marines. Also in this folder is correspondence from Herrod requesting emergency leave and a change in his re-enlistment code.
