William Samuel "Sam" and Margaret "Maggie" Kerr, the parents of Robert S. Kerr, were married in 1893 in Texas. It seemed that Maggie always slept with a favorite white cat until newlywed Sam declared, "I love you better than anything in all the world, but either that cat or I will have to leave this bed."
