Fellows have frequent opportunities to engage in original, collaborative
research with the faculty at the Center. Most fellows present several papers
at professional meetings and many prepare papers for publication during
their period of study at the Center. Financial and academic support is
provided to Fellows to encourage such collaborative--or individual--research
endeavors. Travel support is provided for research and professional meeting
participation, and publication is encouraged. Fellows frequently participate
in the annual meetings of the major regional associations and in the annual
meeting of the American Political Science Association. As part of the professional
socialization process, new fellows are sent to the annual APSA meeting
in early September of their first year in the program. Carl Albert Fellows
are prepared to be productive research scholars when they leave the Center,
in part because they are expected to be productive while at the Carl Albert
Center and are given the resources and support to meet those expectations.
