2007 Prize Competition

In its continuing efforts to promote scholarly research and study on Syria, the Syrian Studies Association is proud to announce its annual competition for prizes. The schedule of prizes follows an alternate year rotation. In 2007 the SSA will give a prize for best article, in 2008 the SSA will give a prize for best dissertation, in 2009 the prize will be given for best article and so forth. Prizes are awarded every other year.

SSA PRIZES FOR BEST WRITING ON SYRIA: CALL FOR SUBMISSION

In order to promote and highlight excellence in research on Bilad al-Sham, the Syrian Studies Association awards annual prizes for the best writing on Syria. This year the prize category is

  • BEST PUBLISHED ARTICLE

Submissions are invited from authors and may be from any academic discipline and cover any period. Articles must have appeared in print or electronically in the period June 2005-June 2007. Submissions may be in any language. The prize is a cash award of $100. The prizewinner will be announced at the SSA meeting at the annual MESA convention in November 2007. This year the convention will be held in Montreal.
