Chair Linda McCarty called the meeting to order at 1:33 p.m. in the Scholars Room of the Oklahoma Memorial Union.

LINDSEY WYATT, STUDENT WITH IBC SOONER GRILLING COMPANY

 

Lindsey showed the items that the IBC is selling this semester.  There is a 6 piece BBQ Grilling utensil set for $45 and all proceeds go to the Center for Children and Families in Norman, Oklahoma.  There is also a 4 piece glass set that the Sippin Sooner Company is offering, for $30 and all proceeds benefit Hearts for Healing.

 

CHAIR’S COMMUNICATIONS

 

Linda said she met with Nick Hathaway on Monday and talked about budget, there are no changes right now.  On April 27, 2009 the retiree benefits committee will meet.

 

ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES OF March 25, 2009

 

On motion by Nancy Matthews, the minutes of the March 25, 2009, Staff Senate meeting were accepted.

 

OTHER COMMUNICATIONS

 

Hourly Employees Council:  President designate Linda Smith said HEC met on April 8, 2009. The committee reported that Connie Hall is the chair of the Elections Committee; she had a list of the names that had been submitted for next year’s committee.  The ballot was approved and was going out the next day.  The Ice Cream Social is on track for April 23, 2009 and there will be celebrity scoopers. 

 

Organizational Staff Council:  President Sandi Emond said OSC met on April 2, 2009. The committee had a luncheon for all of the Merit Award Nominees.  The committee also went shopping for Bingo Prizes and is ready for Staff Week Bingo.  The next meeting is May 7th.

 

Informational Staff Association: President Michael Goodwin said ISA met April 1, 2009. They toured the Lissa and Cy Wagoner Building.  The committee is still participating in the Angel Food Ministries.  The Staff Week Art Show will be in the University Club this year.  The logo contest is finalized.  The next meeting will be May 6th and it will be a pizza party for nominees and Merit Award Winners.

 

Administrative Staff Council:  President Robbie Wahnee said ASC will meet on April 21, 2009.  Dr. Michael Buckley will be their guest speaker from 11:30 to 12:15 in the NEL Seminar Room and a light lunch will be served.  Staff Week Picnic tickets will be sold at all the Staff Week events.

 

STANDING COMMITTEES

 

Awards Committee:  Chair Dan Hough said the committee had all the awards framed and the name tags are ready.  After the Awards Ceremony everyone will need to go through the hallway to get to the room where lunch will be served.

 

Communications Committee:  No report

 

OU Staff Week Committee:  Chair Karen Buntin reported that drinks will be picked up on Thursday.  T-shirts are ready for pick up and the committee will be contacting everyone to pick them up.  There will be a Blood Drive on April 21 during Staff Week.  The Grand Prize Flyer has gone out, it was pointed out that at Bingo hot dogs have been $2 in past years, but this year they will be $1.  There are about 60 participants for the Craft Fair.

 

Personnel Policies Committee:  Chair Margaret Vennochi reported that the committee will look at the concealed carry weapons guidelines.

 

Staff Professional Development:  No report

 

Ad Hoc Committee (for member group Website Guidelines):  Robbie Wahnee said that she met with Melanee Hamilton and by the next Staff Senate meeting may have a mock up of the new websites templates

 

NEW, Ad Hoc Committee (for review of member groups constitution and bylaws):  The chair will be Debbie Copp, members are Beth Gatewood, Debbie Skeel, Dan Hough, David Kizer, and Lezlie Pilkington.

 

CORRESPONDENCE

 

The Staff Senate has purchased a new IPOD recorder.
