.African Queen 2005 "La perle Noire"

The African Student’s Association has been organizing a Scholarship pageant every year, the goal being to find a student who can represent the African Culture on campus when needed. The pageant took place February 12 2005. This year contestants included, from left to right, Jenea Violette Scott, Olumayowa Adedoyin Adebayo, Rafiyat Oluwadamilola Abiola Adegbuyi, Olubunmi Olunfunke Olude and Tamouno-Belema Juliet Adoki. The African Queen 2005 is OluBunmi Olufunke Olude.

.The Big Event 2004

The African Student’s Association has participated in the fifth annual Big Event, which occured on Saturday March 27, 2004. The Big Event is OU's official day of community service. Students, faculty, and staff participate together in a day of unity and philanthropy. The Big Event is also our way of saying thank you to our surrounding community, one that supports our campus year after year. .African Night 2004

Through African Night 2004 under the theme "Unveiling Africa", the African Student’s Association intends to pay tribute and encourage African students at the University of Oklahoma campus in their academic achievements and their contribution to increased cultural awareness and variety on campus. Members pause after a forum discussion about "Africa, Africans, and the media" during African week in a prelude of African Night.

In what has become a tradition the African Student's Association has honored an invitation from the University of Texas, Arlington. AFSA members along 20+ African students traveled together for a week-end of a wide range of activities, the banquet reception, and much more...

.African Queen pageant 2003

The African Student Association at the University of Oklahoma presents the OU African Queen pageant 2003. The OU African Queen is a scholarship pageant designed to showcase the beauty, elegance and accomplishments of our young African ladies.
This year the pageant’s theme is “Johari Ya Afrika”, which stands for Jewels of Africa in Swahili, a major language spoken in Eastern and Central Africa. In the picture the newly crowned African Queen Mwai Mutezo is parading on stage before the audience.
