CONSTITUTION OF THE ANTHROPOLOGY CLUB
UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA

Article I: Name

The Name of this organization shall be "The Anthropology Club" of the University of Oklahoma.

Article II: Purpose

The purpose of this organization is to promote intellectual development and interest in all phases of anthropology and to promote a healthy environment of social interaction within the anthropological community and community at large.

Article III: Membership

The Anthropology club shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, veteran status, marital status or political belief.  Any University of Oklahoma student, regardless of affiliation, holding an interest in anthropological questions and social interaction within the academic realm and community, is eligible for membership. Any non-student such as faculty, staff, spouses, etc., is eligible for associate membership in the Anthropology Club.

Article IV: Officers and Faculty Advisor

Section 1. The officers of the anthropology club shall be: President and Co-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Student Faculty Liaison, and Activities Director. The Co-presidents can, with majority approval, create other elected positions if the need arises to assist the those officers mentioned above.

Section 2. The election of officers shall be held at the end of each fall and spring semester in order to insure proper representation by officers to club members as well as efficient relief and instruction as to the duties required of each elected position.

Section 3. Elections shall be held in a manner of utmost confidentiality. Club members selected for voting shall not be present while votes are being tallied. This is to ensure the fair and unbiased election of officers.

Section 4. The Anthropology Club shall have as an adviser a full-time member of the University faculty or staff, responsible for Sponsorship, Mentorship, and overall guidance.

Article V: By-laws


Section 1. The by-laws to this constitution will be the guidelines to the duties of the officers and the functioning rules of the club.

Section 2. The by-laws or amendments to the by-laws shall be approved by a majority of members present at any regular or special meeting.


Section 3. The Anthropology Club is not affiliated with any parent organization, and this Constitution, subject to the terms of the University of Oklahoma Student Code, is the sole governing document.

Section 4. The Anthropology Club is subject to Local, State, and Federal Laws.

Article VI: Amendments

This constitution may be altered or amended by a majority of members present at a regular or special meeting.
By-laws
Article I. Duties of Officers:
Section 1.
    Duties of Co-presidents:
  1. Preside over all meeting of the club.
  2. Call regular and special meetings of the club.
  3. Preside over the establishment and coordinating of committees.
  4. Carry on correspondence pertaining to the office.
  5. Supervise growth of membership.
  6. Act as the official representative to entities external to the anthropology club.

 

Section 2.

    Duties of the Secretary:
  1. Establish and maintain a uniform system of club minutes to be posted after each meeting for all to see in the anthropology department.
  2. Carry on all correspondence for the club, except that which bears directly on the Co-presidents.
  3. Maintain membership list.
Section 3.
    Duties of the Treasurer:
  1. Manage any funds acquired by the club.
  2. Assist Co-presidents with UOSA moneys.

Article II. Dues
There are currently no club dues. All necessary personal fees for special activities will be paid for by each member on an informal basis or formally from the club's account with a majority approval.

Article III. Rules of Order
Club meeting shall be governed by Roget's Rules of Parliamentary Procedure, amended when deemed necessary. All rules and regulations displayed in the University of Oklahoma handbook shall be thoroughly followed.
