BINGO JANUARY
28th at 2pm. St. Anselm’s will
call bingo for our friends at WHISPERING
PINES on this
date. We could really use your help.
Last week
Michael Athey, David Bassity and
Kay Greenshields
called bingo by themselves. Three
folks are not enough
to do this effectively. So, come
for the fun! Meet at
St. Anselm’s at 1:30 and carpool,
or we’ll see you
there at 2pm. This is the principal
outreach ministry
of our community.
EPISCOPAL STUDENT
ASSOCIATION SOCIAL NIGHT will be
Thursday, January 22 at 8pm. No
set agenda, just fun
and fellowship with your fellow
Episcopal students.
This is an informal meeting for
any students under 30.
Bring games, videos a friend and
your own
refreshments. Snacks will be provided.
IF THE PHONE RINGS
while you are in the building and
it seems as if one of the staff
is not available to
answer, please pick up the phone
and say hello. Offer
to take a message. This house belongs
to God, and we
want folks to know God is home.
SEVERAL UGANDAN
STUDENTS HAVE REQUESTED PEN PALS.
Four
elementary students from a tiny
school in Eastern
Africa have written and asked for
pen pals. This
would be a fun and interesting thing
for anybody
wanting a deeper understanding of
God and God’s
people, not to mention insight into
our companion
relationship with West Ankole. If
you choose to commit
to being a pen-pal to one of these
little ones, please
take it seriously. Feelings can
be hurt if you don’t
follow through. Contact Michael
if you’d like to
answer one of these letters.
SEMINARY OF THE
SOUTHWEST TO HOST VISITOR’S WEEKEND
The Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest
offers
advanced degrees for lay people
in addition to
divinity students. If you are contemplating
a
vocation in service of the church
or would like to
learn more about seminary life,
this Visitors’ Weekend
might be for you. March 26-28 in
Austin, TX. See
Michael for details or log on at

CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP SERIES RESUMED
LAST NIGHT with a
session on stewardship of creation.
How do issues of
environment and faith go together?
How can the car we
drive or the clothes we wear be
a spiritual statement?
Join us at 5:30 on Mondays for a
free dinner. The
dialogue begins at 6:15 and we always
finish by 7:30.
The topic for the next several weeks
will be our
stewardship of the resources of
God’s universe,
including the environment, human
labor, the animals
and each other. Using the “loving
eye” as opposed to
the “arrogant eye.” How do we engage
with the world?
PRAYERS OF THE
PEOPLE. If you are in need of prayer
or
someone you know desires prayer,
please let us know
and we will include these special
intentions during
our celebration of the Sunday Eucharist.
You may send
your prayer requests to us by responding
to this
Enews.
