COMMUNITY ELECTS BOARD/DELEGATES.
The annual Community-Wide meeting for St. Anselm of
Canterbury was held last Sunday night. Over forty
attended the Eucharist that preceded the dinner and
business meeting. At the meeting community members
elected the following people to the Advisory Board
(subject to Bishop Moody’s confirmation): Hugh Long,
Robin Roth, Patrick Maddox, Marlon Breaux and Erin
Rooney. Tim Baer was elected first alternate.
Elected to be Diocesan Convention delegates were Mark
Sessing and Marlon Breaux.
A review of the operating finances for 2003 and open
dialogue followed elections.

EPISCOPAL STUDENTS MEET. Fifteen members of the
Episcopal Student Association met at the home of Erin
Rooney last Wednesday. Details of the event are a
little smoky, but rumor has it the event culminated
around 3:30am. The next student association event is
scheduled for Shrove Tuesday – a Mardi Gras
celebration. Watch your email for details.

CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP SERIES: “STANDING UP TO THE
POWERS” CLS participates watched the first half of the
film “Silkwood,” the story of Oklahoma resident Karen
Silkwood who was mysteriously killed in an auto
accident after charging Oklahoma energy giant
Kerr-McGee with knowingly exposing workers in its
Crescent plant to high levels of radiation. The film
will conclude next Monday. A discussion will follow.
Join us at 5:30 for a free dinner and at 6:15 for the
film/discussion. We’ll be done by 7:30.

BINGO NEXT WEDNESDAY!!! . St. Anselm’s will call
bingo for our friends at WHISPERING PNES next
Wednesday, February 25. We could really use your
help. So, come for the fun! Meet at St. Anselm’s at
1:30 and carpool, or we’ll see you there at 2pm. This
is the principal outreach ministry of our community.

WANT TO MOVE YOUR CHURCH MEMBERSHIP TO ST. ANSELM’S?
If you have been confirmed in another Episcopal Church
and would like to have your “letter” of membership
transferred to St. Anselm’s, all it takes is a letter
to your former congregation. The chapel office can
make arrangements for you. Contact Michael or Mark for
questions. Are you a member of another denomination
considering becoming an Episcopalian? Or are you
baptized, but not yet confirmed? Talk to Michael
about receiving instruction together with the
sacrament of confirmation.

ASH WEDNESDAY – FEBRUARY 25TH. MAKE A SPIRITUAL
COMMITMENT THIS YEAR to experience the entire mystery
and joy of Easter. This is Michael. Easter (the
feast of the resurrection) is the principal feast of
the entire church year. Many people come to church on
Easter. But the great Easter event is so much more
profound, and frankly, it makes so much more sense if
you have made the commitment to experience the
penitential season of Lent first. Lent begins on Ash
Wednesday (Feb. 25). Like previous years, St. Anselm’s
will offer three Ash Wednesday liturgies: 8am, 12:30pm
and 5:30 pm. Make the effort to come to one of these
liturgies and then attend church throughout Lent (it’s
only six Sundays). Take your place at his Last Supper.
Pray with Jesus in the garden. Experience his
abandonment by his friends. Come face to face with his
accusers and judge. Walk to the cross with him.
Experience his dying. The light of his fire will burn
again…but not yet. That is a feast we must prepare
ourselves for. Let’s do it together.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE. If you are in need of prayer or
someone you know desires prayer, please let us know
and we will include these special intentions during
our celebration of the Sunday Eucharist. You may send
your prayer requests to us by responding to this
Enews.

KITCHEN HELP NEEDED. Calling all cooks! Drop Will
Hanner an email and volunteer to cook or clean up
sometime during the spring semester. Will Hanner:
