A BIG THANK YOU
You all may have noticed that recently
(just before Easter) our garden
area in front has had a make over
with new hydrangea bushes and trimmed
up plants. The staff just wanted
to thank the person in charge of
doing
all the hard work put into the effort
of making Canterbury look so much
better. A big thank you goes to
Tim Scott for his great effort and
time
in doing such a beautiful project
for us!
COMMUNITY MEETING
On Monday, after
a light supper at 6 PM, we'll gather
at 7 PM upstairs
to again share ideas and thoughts
about the proposed expansion or
remodeling of St. Anselm's. I hope
you can come and help us discern
the
best course for this important part
of our life together.

WHISPERING PINES
NEXT-TO-THE-LAST TIME -
to go to Whispering Pines this semester
- Wednesday, April 6th. We gather
at 2:30 at St. Anselm's to leave
around 2:45, arriving there about
3:00. Please come to help make this
next-to-the-last visit something
special. -Kay
MILTON OR BYAMUGISHA?
We collect money for the Milton
Fund and we pray for Byamugisha.
Which is it? Here's the story: when
we first adopted a student to sponsor
in school in Uganda, we called him
Milton. Later we learned that Milton
is his American name, but his African
name is Byamugisha. So we decided
to use his "real name"
in our prayers. But we never renamed
the fund.
We learned of
Milton/Byamugisha when Michael,
Hugh, and the other students were
in Uganda. He came specifically
to Michael to plead his case for
a scholarship to attend school.
He is an orphan living with an uncle,
and in June, 2003, he was expelled
because his uncle only had enough
money to send his own children to
school. In Uganda, only elementary
education is funded by the government.
The opportunity for an advanced
education is priceless to Ugandan
students and to the future of the
country.
We collected
money for a scholarship in 2004.
Please help us provide another year's
scholarship for Byamugisha's secondary
education. We have a little more
than half the $300 needed. You will
be making a contribution that will
directly impact the quality of this
student's life and that of his family,
village and nation. Thanks! -Kay
VOOM SUNDAY - APRIL 10
For 23 years, Volunteer Oklahoma
Outreach Mission (VOOM) has been
the coordinating body for a longstanding
partnership between Christians in
Africa and the USA. This partnership
has grown out of a companion relationship
between the Diocese of West Ankole
of the Church of Uganda and the
Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma. Our
companion parish or sister church
in Uganda is St. Andrews Church
in Kyogyera (pronounced georgeera),
and we include St. Andrews, the
chaplain, Father Muhangi, and Byamugisha,
the orphan we support in school
in our Prayers of the People each
Sunday. This coming Sunday, April
10th, we will celebrate our partnership
in Christ not only in prayer, but
in song, word, and special offering
as well. The loose plate offering
will go to the Milton Fund, which
is a part of the Orphan Scholarship
Program sponsored by VOOM. Please
plan to be a part of the celebration.

UPDATED ESA NEWS
We have set a date for the retreat.
It will be April 23rd, which is
a Sat.
We will be back Sunday in time for
church. And now we have decided
which place to go. After talking
with Hugh, I decided that by going
to
his cabin it would probably be the
cheapest route and it would also
be a
great place to have a retreat. We
will be leaving from Canterbury
on Saturday
around 3:30 pm. Put this date in
your schedules! It's going to be
a blast!!
Also a huge thank you to Hugh for
opening his place up to us!
AMAZING OPPORTUNITIES

City University--is offering some
great opportunities this month in

URBAN IMMERSION EVENT IN AUSTIN
Urban Immersion
will take place from July 31 (travel
day) through
August 6th (travel back) at the
Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest
in
Austin.
If you think
you want to go and want your name
on the list, send it
back to us now. We can take a total
of 12 people. So we need to know
if
you're planning on going.
We'll spend five
days in Austin in hands-on ministry
among the poor and
dispossessed as well as sessions
designed to help us understand the
systemic issues and causes of poverty
and prejudice.We'll worship together
daily and have time for Austin's
delights as well.
We're seeking
grants at this time, so the cost
to participants will be
modest.
Again, let us
know now if you plan to come.
