CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP SERIES

Next Monday night at Christian Leadership, angie Helt will share
details with us of the work she'll be doing in Panama next fall and we'll
talk some about the church in Central and South America, as well as the
larger needs of the people there.
6 PM for dinner, 7 PM for discussion. Choir at 8 PM.

WE MADE IT!

Thank all of you who made our VOOM Sunday a success. Last Sunday we celebrated our companion relationship with St. Andrews Church in West Ankole, Uganda, in prayer, word, song and special giving. A special thanks to Hugh Long, one of the youth from our Diocese who traveled to Uganda a couple of summers ago, for his thumbnail sketch of what Volunteer Oklahoma Outreach Mission is all about. One thing we learned is that the scholarship amount to support an orphan student has been raised from $300 to $350. Thanks to all of you, we topped THAT amount. Byamugisha (Milton) does have our support for another year. -Kay

WHISPERING PINES

LAST CHANCE FOR WHISPERING PINES

Wednesday, April 20th (not this coming Wednesday, but the next), will be our last visit to Whispering Pines this semester. Please put the date on your calendar and try to come. Thanks! -Kay

UPDATED ESA NEWS

We have set a date for the retreat. It will be April 23rd, which is a Sat.
We will be back Sunday in time for church. And now we have decided
which place to go. After talking with Hugh, I decided that by going to
his cabin it would probably be the cheapest route and it would also be a
great place to have a retreat. We will be leaving from Canterbury on Saturday
around 3:30 pm. Put this date in your schedules! It's going to be a blast!!
Also a huge thank you to Hugh for opening his place up to us! Also, If you
could reply to this to let me know who all is going to be going to the retreat,
it would be great!

AMAZING OPPORTUNITIES

Thursday April 21 at 7 PM Dr. John B. Cobb will speak in the Angie
Smith Chapel on "Process Theological Perspectives on Science and
Religion." Cobb is a pioneer theologian in taking the philosophy of Whitehead
as a basis for religious reflection, resulting in a vision of God as
evolving along with the universe.

T-SHIRTS ARE HERE.

The t-shirts have arrived! Please be sure to come pick yours up
as soon as you can!! The cost is $9.00 and you can make checks
out to St. Anselm's of Canterbury.

URBAN IMMERSION EVENT IN AUSTIN

Urban Immersion will take place from July 31 (travel day) through
August 6th (travel back) at the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest in
Austin.

If you think you want to go and want your name on the list, send it
back to us now. We can take a total of 12 people. So we need to know if
you're planning on going.

We'll spend five days in Austin in hands-on ministry among the poor and
dispossessed as well as sessions designed to help us understand the
systemic issues and causes of poverty and prejudice. We'll worship together
daily and have time for Austin's delights as well.

We're seeking grants at this time, so the cost to participants will be
modest.

Again, let us know now if you plan to come.
