ST. ANSELM’S MEMBERS
DONATED OVER FIFTY T-SHIRTS in about
ten days! Thanks to all of you who
answered our plea for T-Shirts.
The response was absolutely amazing!
T-shirts are among the most popular
bingo prizes at Whispering Pines.
Your generosity and hard work will
make some wonderful people very,
very happy.
BINGO WEDNESDAY
(SEPTEMBER 29). Meet your friends
at Canterbury around 1:30pm or go
directly to Whispering Pines (at
the corner of Porter/Lindsey)and
help us call bingo. Two weeks ago,
seven members of the community went.
Fun was had by all. Meet Muriel
– she thinks David Bassity is “HOT!”.
Listen to the crooning of Carey
– as he sings his own rendition
of “The Old Rugged Cross.” This
is the heart of St. Anselm’s outreach
ministry. Come and join us!
CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP
SERIES STUDIES “HUMAN LABOR.” Last
night, the Christian Leadership
Series discussed the issue of employment
rights for women, especially as
they try to make inroads into careers
typically dominated by men. The
conversation was real and meaningful.
Next week, our series on “Human
Labor and the Justice of God” concludes
with a look at the assembly production
jobs behind the “Tech Revolution.”
Explore the invisible world of the
minimum wage worker that makes our
gaming and internet experience possible.
Next Monday at 6:15pm. A free dinner
is offered at 5:30pm.
The next module
in our Christian Leadership Series
will be titled “In the likeness
of God: Body Image and Sexuality
in pop culture.”
SUNDAY, OCTOBER
24TH BISHOP ROBERT MOODY WILL PRESIDE
and administer the rite of confirmation.
Lance, his wife will also be with
us. Join us on the 24th to meet
and discuss with the Moody’s and
to support candidates for confirmation,
Kirsten Herndon and Clay Towles.
Anybody who has had the privilege
of being with the Moody’s will agree
it will be a meaningful and challenging
Sunday. Please plan on attending
Sunday, October 24th.
ST. ANSELM’S TO
PLAN VISITORS’ WEEKEND. Sometime
this spring, St. Anselm’s will host
college bound high school Episcopalians
at an official Visitors’ Weekend.
The purpose of the weekend will
be to introduce students to the
university life including campus
ministry. Watch the ENews for updates
and specific dates.
PROVINCIAL/DIOCESAN

Deacon Kay Greenshields and Owen
Pollard will attend a provincial
workshop on Racism and the Church.
The workshop is being hosted by
the college of continuing education
at OU. Next week, Chaplain Michael
Athey will attend the annual diocesan
clergy conference at St. Crispin’s.
He’ll be out of the office Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday.
MILTON FUND TOPS
$350. Thanks to all of you who contributed
last year to the Milton fund. Byamugisha
Milton is the orphan we sponsor
in West Ankole, Uganda. The big
jar in the dining room is where
you can make your contributions.
$300/year provides Milton’s room,
board, tuition and supplies. Our
sponsorship gives him a chance in
life to transcend poverty and live
a healthier life. We started the
count over again at the beginning
of the semester. So slip a buck
or two in the jar for Milton. We’ll
keep you updated on our progress
this year.
