BINGO WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 13(TOMORROW) Our first “Prize
Drive” to collect t-shirts was so successful, we’re
going to try it again. Costume jewelery is popular
with both men and women. Let’s try to build our
inventory of this popular prize over the next few
weeks. Remember – no sharp edges, pins or posts.
Necklaces and bracelets are great. If you have a watch
that’s in working order that you’d like to contribute
– or clip-on earrings, hair clips or rings will be
much appreciated. Garage sales are a great source of
inexpensive but first-rate prizes. Thanks for your
support of this ministry. Meet your friends at
Canterbury around 1:30pm or go directly to Whispering
Pines (at the corner of Porter/Lindsey)and help us
call bingo.

CHRISTIAN LEADERSHIP SERIES STUDIES “BODY IMAGE.”
“I’m going to stand naked in front of the mirror now
and try to tell myself that I love my body…” These are
the opening words of the award winning documentary
Body, the value of women. A frank dialogue on how we
see ourselves, how others perceive us, the role of
commerce and fashion in shaping our sense of self and
developing a “theology of the body” are all issues we
will deal with over the next four weeks in our
Christian Leadership Series. Next Monday, we will
begin exploring how men in our culture learn to be men
– and how violence shapes our ideas of masculinity.
Join us at 6pm for the discussion or at 5:30 for a
free community dinner. We’re always done by 7:30pm.

ESA MEETING SCHEDULED for Thursday, October 21. Come
between 8:30 and 9 pm or just whenever you can make
it. We will be scheduling some events for the rest of
October and November. For those of you who were not
able to come to Eischen's the past time, please come
and partake in our discussion because we will be
scheduling another date for another trip to Eischen's.
Bring a friend and some snacks... Hope to see you all
there!!

BISHOP MOODY IS COMING – PLEASE ATTEND. Sunday,
OCTOBER 24TH Bishop Robert Moody will confirm Kirsten
and Clay. As a community, we will pledge ourselves to
“support them in their life in Christ.” Bishop Moody
will preside at the Eucharist and preach. Lance, his
wife will also be with us. The conversation with the
Moody’s is always informative and fun. They are
recently back from a House of Bishops meeting and by
the 24th, the eagerly awaited report from the
Archbishop of Canterbury that deals with the fractions
of the Anglican community will be public. We’ll have
an opportunity to discuss all these issues with the
Moodys. Please plan on attending Sunday, October 24th.

ST. ANSELM TO HONOR FAITHFUL DEPARTED.All Saints
Sunday will be celebrated on November 7th. In keeping
with the ancient traditions of the church, we will
remember by name those children of God who have gone
before us - who together with us, comprise the
communion of saints. Submit the names of those you
would like the church to pray for by responding to
this email. The names of each will also appear in the
bulletin on the 7th.

ST. ANSELM’S ADVISORY BOARD TO CONVENE NOVEMBER 7.
The Advisory Board will meet immediately after the
Eucharist on Sunday, November 7. This is an open
meeting, so all members of the community are welcome
to attend. Items for discussion will include the
certification of Kate Emig and Owen Pollard in their
respective discernment tracks. The proposed addition
of a great room will also be discussed. A budget
review will be presented together with informal
reports from staff. Members of the Advisory Board
include: Hugh Long, Patrick Maddox, Robin Roth, Erin
Rooney, Tim Scott, Stephen Wagner and Quyen Arana.

DIOCESAN CONVENTION TO CONVENE NOVEMBER 12-13. Lay
delegates from St. Anselm’s (elected at the February
annual meeting) are Marlon Breaux and Mark Sessing.
Clergy delegates will include Michael and Kay. Others
attending as guest observers will be Suzy Hays, Tess
Wright and Owen Pollard. This convention promises to
be interesting. Pray for your delegation, and if you
have concerns or issues you’d like them to address to
the convention, make your own voice heard!

LAYREADERS AND EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
Liturgical ministry abounds at St. Anselm’s. If you
are interested in reading the lessons during the
worship service or would like to administer the
chalice at the time of communion, contact Deacon Kay
Greenshields by responding to this email.

"MILTON FUND" CONTINUES. Please don't forget about
Milton, the orphan in Uganda we are supporting in
school. We are still collecting money and all it
takes is $300 per year. The money container is in the
dining room with a picture of Milton on it. If you
have any spare change, just drop it in and we'll get
it to Milton! Thank you all for your support for
Milton and his schooling last year!! It is greatly
appreciated! We hope to have the same results as last
year!
