Waltz

This dance is considered the mother of all partnership dances; the Left and Right 3/8 turns are the heart of this dance. The Left and Right 3/8 turns are designed to allow movement around the floor, unlike the basic box, and are not as mundane (read:  boring) as the progressive step.

Man's Figure: in 2 halves

The man will step forward on his left foot (LF Fwd), side on his right foot (RF Sd), and then close his left foot to his right (LF Cl to RF)

The he will step back on his right foot (RF Bk), side on his left (LF Sd), and then close his right foot to his left (RF Cl to LF).

3/8 rotation or 135 degrees rotation occurs for each half of the figure, or every three steps.

Lady's Figure: in 2 halves

The lady will step back on her right foot (RF Bk), side on her left foot (LF Sd), and then close her right foot to her left (RF Cl to LF).

Then she will step forward on her left foot (LF Fwd), side on her right foot (RF Sd), and then close her left foot to her right (LF Cl to RF).
