Scholarship

The Alpha Iota Chapter of Delta Gamma strives not only for sisterhood but scholarly excellence. As collegians, we know our primary purpose in college is getting an education and we strive to reach our academic potential. We hold all of our members accountable for maintaining their already fantastic scholastic achievements.

Alpha Iota has always had one of the highest and most consistent GPA’s of all Greek Organizations on OU’s campus. The New Members of Delta Gamma’s 2008 fall pledge class ranked 2nd in grades of all sororities and Delta Gamma ranked 5th of all sororities. In fall of 2008 we had 22 members make the President’s Honor Roll (4.0) and 63 members make the Dean’s Honor Roll (3.5 and above). We are proud of our women and their continued hard work for academic excellence.

Alpha Iota encourages our women to work hard through study hours, study buddies, in house tutors, and scholarly scoops (ice cream parties). We also provide many other resources to our members that help them achieve their scholastic potential.

Another program that Alpha Iota highly encourages is OU’s study abroad program. Studying abroad not only educates our members on other cultures and experiences but widens their perspective on the world. Though we greatly miss our sisters when they are gone, we always send them care packages and letters to remind them of Soonerland!

In the past few years, Delta Gamma’s have been to places such as London, Florence, China, Japan, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, Spain.
