The women of Kappa Kappa Gamma both host and participate in numerous philanthropic events and charities. This year, Kappa participated in several philanthropy events sponsored by other campus organizations, such as the Delta Gamma Anchor Splash and the Gamma Phi Beta Chili Cookoff.

With the men of Beta Theta Pi, Kappa hosts a yearly International Barbeque in the Fall for the International Students of OU. Over 75 International Students attended the event, where they were treated to an Old Fashioned Oklahoma BBQ.

In September, Kappa hosted the third annual Kappa Klassic Golf Tournament. Golfers from Texas and Oklahoma met at the Jimmie Austin Golf Course for a day filled with activities and prizes donated by the community. Kappa raised money through entry fees, corporate sponsors, and alumni. The money raised from the Kappa Klassic went to the KKG local philanthropy, the J.D. McCarty Center of Norman.

Kappa held the annual Spaghetti Dinner in February, an event which drew nearly 1000 OU students to the Kappa house. The wonderful turnout enabled the house to contribute greatly to the national philanthropy, the Rose McGill Fund, which assists women in need all over the country.

For Valentine's Day, Kappas brought heart shaped cookies and cards made by the girls in the chapter to the children of the center.

For information on the J.D. McCarty Center, visit them on the web at www.jdmc.org. To learn more about Kappa's national philanthropy, visit the Kappa National Website.

The women of Kappa Kappa Gamma are dedicated to the academic achievement of every undergraduate member and to the scholastic excellence of the chapter. Members of the chapter are given resources to aid them in their studies such as scholarship programs, incentives to achieve high grades, and extra encouragement during stressful times like finals. Kappas also promote scholarship by voting on a certain amount of study hall hours weekly to establish strong academic habits. The hard work of the Kappa women paid off Fall 2002, when Panhellenic awarded the house with 1st place overall in grades.
