L.A. Comp Award
Zehra is collecting votes for the L.A. Comp Award; the deadline is April 13th.
Dr. Parthasarathy stated the winner of the Award would be announced at the AME “Farewell to Graduates” Luncheon on April 27th.
New Members Induction
Dr. Parthasarathy gave Ricky a list of eligible students.
Ricky will obtain their emails from Suzi Skinner and invite them to the induction, which we unanimously voted to be Thursday, April 27th from 5:00 – 8:30 P.M.
We also voted (6-1) to have a scavenger hunt for the new inductees. The hunt will begin at 5:00 P.M. and last until approximately 6:00 P.M, when we will begin the pizza dinner.
Members are to send Wade a clue for the scavenger hunt, and he will compile those and send the final form to everyone.
Officer Elections
Officer elections for the next academic year will be held during the induction ceremony on April 27th.
Membership Certificates
Dr. Parthasarathy corresponded with the Vice President at the national office and said they should arrive within 2 or 3 weeks.
Website
Ricky spoke with IT and gave Dr. Vedula the proper phone and account numbers to establish hosting for our web page.
Student Organization Application
Ryan discussed the procedures for applying to become an official student organization of the university. The outline he distributed is embedded within this document.
SGT Awareness & Outreach
Dr. Parthasarathy again emphasized that SGT should become more involved with AE students. He stated a disturbing fact that AE enrollment significantly declines between the sophomore and junior year of study.
Ricky is the only member of SGT who is currently a DLC Mentor, and Dr. Parthasarathy encouraged members to respond to Dr. Pulat’s recent request for more applications. (AE junior Travis Tyler is the only AE signed up at the moment).
Dr. Parthasarathy also mentioned sophomores and juniors should be invited to capstone presentations and especially the capstone poster fair (May 3rd). Zehra will be sending the announcement email(s).
Outlook
We also decided to brainstorm at the induction for next year’s activities, like seminars and such, to help underclassmen and promote awareness of aerospace engineering.
